Despite the overwhelmingly positive contributions of immigrants throughout U.S. history, lies and racist attacks are used to divide citizens from new arrivals.

Trump has been particularly effective in this regard, creating a sense of fear by talking about an immigrant invasion and characterizing immigrants as violent and threatening. Unfortunately, this is only the newest wave of such anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States. And it's part of a broader global movement built on racism and xenophobia.
