New Poster – 250 Years of Peoples' Resistance

Dear friend:

The 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence will be celebrated this coming July 4. Much of the focus will be on flag waving, celebrating our national myths, and building support for the rogue regime in Washington.

Our new poster takes a different path – celebrating the rich history of people organizing to demand rights and ideals either embodied in or ignored by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Cultural Worker at-large Matt Meyer approached us last fall to encourage the creation of such a poster. Matt is an organizer with the Spirit of Mandela Coalition, which is organizing a national Mobilization Against Genocides in Atlanta on July 4, 2026.

The poster features 19 images which represent key movements and moments in the long arc of struggle for justice, peace and environmental protection. We sought to accurately represent the breadth and depth of peoples' movements, recognizing that only a limited selection could be included. Photographers and artists generously donated the use of their work so we could produce the poster affordably. The listing on our website credits the artists and also offers brief background information on the movements represented.

The printed version is available for purchase, and a free downloadable pdf is also available so organizations can use it to promote your events to celebrate 250 Years of Peoples' Resistance.

Please share it widely.

In solidarity,

Andy Mager
