Despite the overwhelmingly positive contributions of immigrants throughout U.S. history, lies and racist attacks are used to divide citizens from new arrivals.

Trump has been particularly effective in this regard, creating a sense of hysteria by characterizing immigrants as violent. Unfortunately, this is only the newest wave of such anti-immigrant sentiment in the United States. And it's part of a broader global movement built on racism and xenophobia.
