Emma Goldman (1869-1940) was an anarchist, anti-war activist, labor organizer, feminist, nurse, midwife, writer and lecturer, and arts advocate. She spent her life working for peace, justice, sexual freedom and reproductive rights. After being jailed several times for acts of civil disobedience, she was deported from the US in 1919. She died while in Canada raising funds for the anti-Franco revolutionaries in Spain.
