Postcard - Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial

On May 31-June 1, 1921, white mobs, many of them deputized and armed by city officials, attacked Black residents, homes and businesses in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As many as 300 people were killed, 35 city blocks were destroyed, including thousands of homes and other buildings. The mob targeted the prosperous Black community of Greenwood in a vicious act of white supremacy. The resilient survivors of the massacre rebuilt their community in the following decades and Greenwood today is again being renewed after decades of neglect.
