💃Celebrate International Dance Day - April 29

I dance when I’m sad. That’s how I know it’s important to me.
Dance can patch up a broken heart, fix a bad day, or help mourn the loss of a loved one. It is the most powerful kind of medicine.
A medicine that harmonizes your heart, soul, mind, and body into a graceful unison.
When my thoughts are pacing too quickly and I can’t come up with words, I resort to dance to calm my nerves.
Although dancing alone can feel freeing, I prefer to dance with others whenever I have the chance. Unifying creativity with others makes me feel whole, and accomplished. To be able to communicate a message through body language with others, makes me feel understood. Dance is a language that translates love, sorrow, passion and art. When others can speak your language without using any words, you can feel the power in the room. I strive to keep moving with others as long as I possibly can. Because together we can create an even more powerful message than when I dance alone.

An open space
Feels so free
Especially when it’s just me
My limbs perk up
With a mind of their own
I cant control it
Dance is rooted in my soul
I leap and turn and stretch
All day
In language of contemporary
Jazz
And Ballet
Until i get lonely
Then I will dance with my mates
Who share the same brain
As we talk in counts of eight
We dance in unison
All the way to crescendo
Then we melt away
And slow down the tempo
We trade
Exchange
And perform bold movements
Until we’ve oo’d and aah’d
And made some improvements
We inhale
And Exhale
Through each lift
And bend
We take our time
To avoid the end
Because once it’s over
How do we feel whole again?
Maybe start from the beginning?
Or create something new?
Whatever it may be
We will keep dancing
Until others finally see.
