Remember and Act - International Holocaust Remembrance Day
Share
Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, the largest death camp used in the Nazi murders of six million Jews, along with millions of other victims – gypsies, labor activists, gay and lesbian people, communists, people with disabilities and more. The United Nations calls for commemorations around the world to remember the holocaust and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides.
We are in a moment where authoritarianism is on the rise, here in the US and elsewhere. People who survived the holocaust, and those who have studied it, largely agree that standing up, speaking out and organizing are the keys to making “Never Again” meaningful.
We have a responsibility to speak out and condemn anti-semitism, along with the targeting of anyone. As raids on immigrants ramp up across the country, we are reminded that speaking up at the beginning is the key to our collective safety.
Let us support one another as we dig deep and find the courage to act.
In solidarity,
