Historian and activist Sally Roesch Wagner worked for a number of decades to restore Gage's place in feminist and women's suffrage history.

Suffrage was won in New York State on November 6, 1917 with New York City men, led by trade unionists and immigrants, favoring suffrage by over 100,000 votes.
