Prayer flags originated with the Indian Buddhist Sutras (texts), which were written on cloth banners and carried to other regions of the world. Traditionally, the flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion to all.

Ornella Bagnato began working in photography as a kindergarten teacher. This work inspired her to continue out into the world. Her travels have brought her to India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, China, Borneo, Africa and South America. Her compassionate and activist spirit has her involved in the Free Tibet and Free Burma movements, among others.
