Today, Afghanistan is home to the largest per capita percentage of girl skateboarders in the world (40% vs. 5% worldwide) and skateboarding is the largest female sport in the country. This the case because of the diligent work of Skateistan, an innovative NGO that uses skateboarding to connect children to education.
